On the eve of the presidential election, the fashion industry had its own version of tallying votes—that is, for the winners of the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. For its 13th annual gala dinner, an ensemble audience of designers, models and style influencers turned up at Spring Studios as the fund elected Brock Collection’s Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock as the recipients of $400,000 and a yearlong mentorship from CFDA members and Vogue editors. The husband-and-wife team’s streamlined yet elegant womenswear line topped finalists Stirling Barrett of Krewe du Optic and Adam Selman, who received $150,000 each. Of course, the night wouldn’t have been complete without reference to Election Day; guests were treated to a chicken pot pie that spelled out “VOTE” and featured a Hillary Clinton flag. Now that’s one way to successfully mix fashion and politics.
