Updated 12/22/2016:

Looks like another NYC regular is joining the West Coast exodus. Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, plans to reveal her first cruise collection for the luxury brand in Los Angeles in the spring. Slated for May 11, the show is just the latest in the trend of designers relocating to LA for fashion week. We have to admit—the sunny climate and breathtaking beaches certainly set the stage for a vibrant runway.

Fashion Week never comes without its surprises. While the shift to see-now, buy-now shows had everyone buzzing in the fall, next season also expects a major change, particularly with the influx of designers moving their shows. Come February, Rebecca Minkoff, Tommy Hilfiger, Tom Ford and our very own Rachel Zoe are moving their traditionally NY-held shows to the West Coast. Before NYFW’s official start, Rebecca Minkoff’s presentation at The Grove will be open to the public (similar to her SoHo show in September) while Tommy Hilfiger’s second collaboration with Gigi Hadid will show on February 8 in Venice Beach. Both Tom Ford and Rachel Zoe have yet to publicly announce their dates. It’s part of a growing trend of designers—like Louis Vuitton and Burberry—who are opting for a change of scenery, and we can’t say we blame them (as the Northeast freezes over).
